Hi, I’m Jenny and the owner of Jenny Gray Studios offering Bridal and Occasion makeup, HD Brows, Brow Lamination and LVL Lashes.

I started my business whilst still working in oil and gas, I had been encouraged to turn my hobby into my career for years but never thought it was something I could do. Initially I was self taught and then started training with some of the most highly regarding Artists in the UK and the Institute of Makeup Artistry in London. I started offering makeup from my kitchen or mobile which then quickly escalated as the word got out which seen me create my own working space from my home cabin studio in Aberdeen however primarily working on location for bridal parties. My family and I then decided to move to the countryside which also meant relocating the business to my hometown, Ellon. I then left the office job allowing me to concentrate on building my treatments; introducing brow and lash treatments. I trained with the prestigious High Definition Brand in Glasgow for both HD Brows and Brow Sculpt (Lamination) using their quality brand to ensure every brow is perfectly designed and working towards each client’s goal and I also trained in Nouveau Lashes, again the best in the industry to offer LVL Lashes giving clients the illusion of longer fuller lashes with the lash lift treatment.

It felt like it was only a dream to own my own Beauty Studio but here we are, offering an array of treatments and working with other talented women in their field with amazing loyal clients, I am so excited to see where the future takes us.

Fun Facts

Any hidden/unusual talents? Not so much a secret, but I used to play in the Ellon RBL Pipe Band and can play the Tenor Drum.

Who or what are you a closet fan of? Tom Jones… I know he is old enough to be my granda buuuut, there is something sexy about him.

If you had any superpower, what would it be? I have always wished I had powers like Bewitched (the programme, not the band, although I do love a bit of “Ce La Vie” too).. Like wiggle your nose or point your fingers and things are done, or click your fingers and you’ve teleported to another location… I would have so much more time on my hands…

Hi, I’m Donna and I do all things nails at Jenny Gray Studios.

I’m fully trained and insured to carry out manicure, pedicure, gel application/removal, gel extensions/removal, nail art and e-file.

The extension services I offer are builder gel, tips with builder gel and acrygel. The builder gel extensions are built up and sculpted and is a very good alternative to acrylic. The tips and builder gel, are tips glued to the nail and then builder applied over them. The acrygel is a very thick gel that is applied to the nail using special forms and creates another beautiful extension and an alternative to acrylic.

The products I’m using are from Bellissima Gel and Magpie Beauty. Both companies have an amazing range of gel colours… and my collection in the studio is growing all the time.

I decided to look into becoming a nail technician because I enjoyed doing my own and my daughters nails… I had a bit of a nail polish obsession… I must’ve owned about 30-40 colours!

I trained with a company called Bellissima Gel on an intensive course. It gave me a great starting point and I’ve grown in my ability over time. The lockdowns have also allowed me to expand on my nail art practice… I’ve completed some online courses and picked up some fab techniques.

I love doing nail art and have lots of gorgeous glitters and paints. I also have foils and stickers which can be applied as an alternative or along with my nail art. All of my nail art is hand drawn and I’ll give anything a go! Got a pic… let me see, and I’ll let you know if it can be done.

Do you have any strange phobias? Moths (hate the way they flutter about and get in your face) and mushrooms (hate the texture and the smell when they cook)

What’s the nerdiest thing you do in your spare time? Is doing nails nerdy enough? And I like running

Who or what are you a closet fan of? Not a closet fan as such because I tell everyone I watch it but I love Greys Anatomy… have watched it start to finish many times over, usually when a new season starts I’ll rewatch from the very beginning so that lets you know how much I’ve watched it (it’s on season 17)
